Description from the seller

This object is an antique desk globe or world globe, specifically a model from the well-known German maker Ludwig Julius Heymann from Berlin.

This type of globe dates from the late 19th century, presumably around 1885-1890.

The globe has a diameter of about 35 cm and is clad with handmade, lithographed paper gores.
The map displays historical cartography with, among other things, old borders, ocean currents, and a clear equator.
Due to its age, the paper has acquired a atmospheric, yellowed patina.

The globe sits on a classic, elegantly turned wooden baluster leg. The base is made of a dark wood (such as fruitwood or hardwood) and ends in a wide, round, stepped base.
The globe is mounted at an angle on a metal axis, representative of the tilt of the Earth, with a decorative wooden or metal knob (finial) at the North Pole.

The map itself has some damage (see photo).
