Description from the seller

Magnificent Renaissance Revival ornamental chalice crafted in silver-plated metal over a copper base, dating from the late 19th century (circa 1880).

The chalice features an elegant conical cup with a gilt interior and richly embossed and chased decoration. The surface is adorned with finely detailed putti, scrolling foliage, cartouches and classical Renaissance-inspired motifs, demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of historicist decorative arts.

The stem and circular foot continue the elaborate ornamental design, creating a harmonious composition that reflects the revival of Renaissance aesthetics popular throughout Europe during the second half of the 19th century.

This impressive piece is highly decorative and represents an excellent addition to collections of European decorative arts, antique silver-plated objects or historic religious-inspired artefacts.

The chalice shows an attractive age-related patina together with minor wear to the silver plating and slight deformation to the rim, all consistent with its age and historical use. These signs of age do not detract from its decorative appeal or structural stability.

Please refer to the photographs, which form an integral part of the description and accurately illustrate the condition of the lot.
