Historicist Grandiose Decorative Urn on Marble Pedestal

Decorative urn in the classical style of historicism. The egg-shaped body of the urn is adorned with floral reliefs (Acanthus leaves) and is flanked by side ram heads or faun heads (see photos). The urn is supported by curved supports resting on a round base. All of this stands on a profiled pedestal made of reddish-beige veined marble, which is finished with four richly decorated feet. The urn lid is crowned by a pine-cone-shaped finial.
Manufacturer: Unknown (no foundry mark or signature visible)
Origin: France or Germany
Approx. date: ca. 1880 – 1900
Period: Historicism (Founders' Style)
Style: Neoclassicism / Neo-Louis XVI
Technique: Metal cast, patinated/bronzed, stonework, assembled
Material: Zinc cast (spelter / régule) – recognizable by the typical gray, unpatinated inner surface, as well as veined marble
Condition:
Overall condition: Good for its age, original state with authentic patina. Object is complete and stably mounted.
Surface: Age-related abrasion and wear to the original bronzing at the edges and raised relief areas (see photos). No cracks or deformations in the metal cast.
Marble pedestal: Intact and without chips; visible lines (see image_5.png) are part of the natural veining of the stone (no cracks).
Bottom: Firmly screwed; feet were later fitted with felt glides to protect furniture.
Interior: Age-related spots and oxidation of the uncoated zinc, not visible from the outside.
