This graceful wall-mounted coffee mill from the Dutch brand Java consists of a wooden plank, finished here in a light cream color, with a porcelain storage jar mounted on top above a cast-iron grinding mechanism stamped Java. The porcelain jar is beautifully decorated with a band of pink roses and small flowers against a dark background, interspersed with gilded borders, and bears in the center the inscription Coffee in gilded letters. The lid is finished with a glossy copper cap. The grinding mechanism is white-lacquered cast iron with gold lettering, an iron crank with a wooden handle, and contains a glass receptacle with measurement markings for the ground coffee powder.

The whole is mounted on a wooden backboard with holes for wall mounting, a very common design in Dutch households from the first half of the twentieth century. The condition is good for its age, with natural wear on the porcelain and light wear to the gilded details, underscoring the authenticity of the object. A graceful and atmospheric piece that fits decoratively and practically in a rural or classic Dutch interior.
