Circa 1880, 20x27 cm.
"Types mauresques d'Oran", a very beautiful period albumen print, large format, in very good condition with preserved contrast, gray tones and levels of detail from TTB to Superb, by E&A. Neurdein.
The value of this print lies in the fact that it is not mounted on an album page or cardboard backing, which is rare.
Signed and captioned at the bottom of the print, in the negative.
Rare, unstaged subject, in situ.
Deserves to be framed.
Will be shipped with its neutral-pH sleeve (ideal for a collection kept in good condition).
Les Frères Neurdein (Étienne and Antonin Neurdein) are French photographers and publishers active at the end of the 19th century. Based in Paris, they founded in the 1860s an important photographic workshop that quickly became one of the leading publishers of tourist and documentary images. The Neurdein brothers produced and distributed numerous photographs of monuments, cities and landscapes, in France as well as abroad, notably in Egypt, in North Africa and in the Near East.
