Superb portrait, not to be missed.
Deserves framing.
Will be shipped with its neutral pH sleeve (ideal for a collection in good conditions).
Jean Geiser (1848-1923) is one of the most important photographers of colonial Algeria at the end of the 19th century. Of Swiss origin, he settled in Algiers around 1873 and founded a photographic studio that quickly became one of the most renowned in North Africa. His work is part of the Orientalist photography tradition. He produced thousands of images for travelers, settlers and European collectors: views of towns, landscapes, street scenes, portraits of inhabitants and studio compositions featuring dancers, musicians or people in ‘exotic’ costume.
