Type arabe (soldat), Maroc, a gelatin-silver print attributed to René Prouho (XIX), circa 1880, 19 × 26 cm, condition TTB, unsigned.
Description from the seller
Circa 1880, 22x28cm.
"Arab type (soldier), Morocco", a very beautiful vintage silver-gelatin print, large format, in very good condition with preserved contrasts, gray tones and levels of detail from TB to TTB, attributed to René Prouho.
The appeal of this print is that it is not mounted on an album page or cardboard support, which is rare.
Rare subject.
Deserves framing.
Will be shipped with its neutral pH sleeve (ideal for a collection kept in good condition).
Installed as a professional photographer in Hussein-Dey, Algeria in 1911; in 1927 René Prouho sold his photographic archive to the printer Jean Combier in Mâcon, who produced postcards from this archive until 1962; he ended his career in France after 1962. - The René Prouho collection is kept at the Musée Nicéphore Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône.
