Description from the seller
Circa 1880, 19×26 cm.
"Mauresques, costumes d'intérieur",
very fine vintage albumen print in very good condition, with preserved contrast, grayscale nuances, and detail levels ranging from Very Good to Superb, attributed to Pascal Sebah.
The appeal of this print is that it is not mounted on an album page or cardboard backing, which is rare.
It deserves framing.
Will be shipped with its neutral-pH sleeve (ideal for a collection in good condition).
Pascal (P.) Sebah was one of the great photographers active in Constantinople during the second half of the 19th century. His studio, located in the heart of the city, quickly became a reference for travelers and diplomats seeking images of the Ottoman Empire and Egypt.
Sebah produced portraits, "types" scenes, and monumental views with great technical mastery and careful staging.
