Two blown glass Seltz siphons with original metal heads, one engraved Maison Minde – Limonades & Sirops and the other A. Huchet – Brissac, France/Czechoslovakia, circa 1900–1925, each about 31 cm tall and 10 cm in diameter, in good condition with age-related patina.
Description from the seller
Two blown glass Seltzer water siphons, engraved – Maison Minde & A. Huchet Brissac – France / Czechoslovakia – circa 1900-1925
Set comprising two authentic blown-glass Seltzer water siphons, representative of early 20th-century French production.
The first is a Maison Minde – Limonades & Sirops model, made in turquoise blue glass, preserving its original metal head. It measures 31 cm in height with a diameter of 10 cm.
The second bears the engraving A. Huchet – Brissac. Its acid-etched decoration is particularly well preserved. The molded marking under the base indicates manufacture in Czechoslovakia, attesting to the use of Central European glassworks, renowned for their glass quality in the 1920s.
These two pieces illustrate the era when lemonade sellers had their siphons personalized with their name to identify their collection bottles. Pieces etched with the name of a local establishment, such as A. Huchet – Brissac, are considerably rarer than generic models.
Condition:
Very good conservation state.
Original metal heads.
Interior glass tubes are present and perfectly intact on both siphons.
No cracks observed; only a slight patina and traces of use consistent with age.
A cohesive, high-quality pair, bringing together two models with characteristic blue hues, including a piece engraved with a locally sourced provenance that is relatively uncommon.
Photographs are an integral part of the description.
Exceedingly careful packaging and insured tracked shipping.
