A lot of three authentic hand-knotted oriental mini-tapestries in pure wool on a wool warp, each approximately 67 cm by 40 cm, dating to the late 20th century with country of origin unknown.
Description from the seller
Lot of 3 authentic hand-knotted oriental mini-rugs – pure wool – circa 1970–1980
Atmospheric collection of three authentic hand-knotted oriental miniature carpets
These characterful nomadic- and village-weavings are entirely handmade and form a beautiful example of traditional craftsmanship.
The carpets are made of pure wool on a wool warp, recognizable by the continuous original fringes and the characteristic hand-knotted reverse side. The warm colors and the classic geometric design with stair-step diamond medallions in red, deep blue and cream tones give the pieces a timeless look.
Thanks to their compact size, the rugs are versatile to use, for example as a decorative accent on a table or cabinet, as a base for vases or art objects, or as wall decor.
Specifications:
Period: circa 1970–1980
Technique: 100% hand-knotted
Material: Pure wool on wool warp
The carpets are in neat vintage condition with normal signs of use and aging appropriate to their age.
Please examine the photos carefully, including the close-up of the reverse side. These form an integral part of the description and give a good impression of the condition, colors, finish and the artisanal knotting structure.
