Description from the seller
Add a touch of genuine Italian mid-century antiquarian style to your home or collection with this splendid and rare Veglia Borletti desk alarm, model "Music Alarm" with a 7-jewel mechanical movement.
The Veglia brand was originally founded at the end of the 19th century in Milan by the Borletti family (Fratelli Borletti); the brand owes its name to the famous poet Gabriele D'Annunzio. It was he who coined the word "Veglia" at the request of Senator Giuseppe Borletti, playing on the idea of watching over time and waking up in the morning.
During the 20th century, the company became famous across Europe for both fine mechanics and desk clockmaking, and for supplying precision instruments for cars and airplanes (the famous Veglia-Borletti speedometers).
This specific model stands out for its exclusive mechanical musical alarm, which replaces the traditional chime with a gentle melody (evoked by the beautiful notes engraved on the top part of the brass case).
Manufacturer: Veglia (Fratelli Borletti - Milan)
Era: 1960s / 1970s
Features: Manual-wind mechanical movement with 7 jewels, musical alarm, luminescent gold hands.
Aesthetics: Stunning vintage patina, satin gold case, clean and highly legible dial.
A perfect decorative accessory for desks, bedside tables, or bookshelves in Mid-Century style!
