Description from the seller
The Dagobert armchair is inspired by the throne of the King of France.
Beautiful and scenographic, a very ancient Dagobert armchair-throne, executed in Medieval style, in solid wood and ebonized, highly worked—finely carved and inlaid.
The piece presents the typical wavy and sinuous line, with richly fine engravings.
A piece of high cabinetmaking, ideal for lovers and collectors of antique furniture, to decorate a room, a venue, or a shop display window.
Dagobert armchair, very elaborately worked, finely carved and inlaid with an X-shaped base, whose intersection is decorated with a grotesque head.
The scroll-shaped armrests are carved with volutes and foliage and join the tall uprights of the backrest, carved in the shape of grimacing faces. It is a true work of wood art!
The curved upper rail is also richly decorated with scrolls and foliage.
The Dagobert armchair is inspired by the throne of the King of France, recalling the style of antique chairs.
The curved structure of this medieval-inspired chair and its ornamental details give it authenticity and elegance.
The object is very old, as one might expect, and it could be missing small bits of wood, such as a backrest curl, and may show traces of restorations carried out over the centuries.
More generally, a sum of small defects inevitably produced over its long life, which should not frighten but rather guarantee its authenticity.
Being an antique piece, it would be much more suspicious if no defect were present. The real condition is verifiable in the photographs.
Given its age, it is in good overall condition, with a stable and robust structure; the wood is dry. Therefore it could be used not only for decoration but also according to its functional purpose.
