Wooden wall mirror from the United Kingdom, circa 1950s, in good used condition with minor signs of age, Victorian style with carved frame; external size 56 × 46 cm (internal 46 × 36 cm).
Description from the seller
This mirror from the first half of the twentieth century, with its Victorian or Elizabethan air, preserves that solemn and warm presence that only well-crafted wood worked by hand can convey. The frame, carved with a continuous rhythm of reliefs and moldings, shows a taste for ornamentation that does not fall into excess, but seeks elegance through detail: undulating lines, small incisions, emphasized corners that recall the artisanal tradition of the nineteenth century extended into the early decades of the twentieth.
The wood, probably walnut or a similarly toned species, wears a mature patina, the result of time and use, which enhances the depth of the carvings and brings that soft shine that accompanies lived-in objects. The mirror, slightly aged, reflects discreetly, as if adding a layer of history to everything it captures.
It is a piece that fits the transition between the more ornate Victorian style and the more sober and structured Elizabethan style, maintaining the essence of both: character, material nobility and a decorative sense that adds presence without imposing itself. Ideal for classic, eclectic or contemporary spaces that seek an authentic historic accent, this mirror functions as a fragment of its era that continues to converse with current light.
Tracked shipping and careful packaging.
