Description from the seller
Traditional South African Zulu shields date back to King Shaka Zulu and have been used by the tribes in combat for hundreds of years. The modern world has evolved, just as the Zulu tribes have. These shields are no longer used in battle, but rather for traditional Zulu ceremonies such as weddings, to tell ancestral historical stories. These boldly black-and-white painted wooden carved motifs continue to have a striking modern form when displayed in groupings. Each may vary slightly due to unique hand carvings. Supplied with a hook attached to the back for wall mounting.
