Description from the seller

Antique oval frame with faux bois finish (wood grain effect) – Late 19th / early 20th century
Fascinating and evocative oval frame from the late Victorian / early 20th century, characterized by refined artisanal workmanship. The surface features a decorative faux wood finish (faux bois) with warm striations and amber veins on a dark background, a period-typical technique to adorn plaster and wood supports. This type of frame was originally intended to host old photographic portraits printed in carbon, Liberty prints, or mercury mirrors. It retains on the back the original vintage cord for wall hanging. A piece of great character, ideal for restoration projects or as a ready-to-hang decorative element in interiors with a classic, vintage, or eclectic taste.
Details and specifications:
Forma: Oval
Era: Late 19th / Early 20th century (Circa 1890-1910)
Style: Eclectic / Umbertine / Late Victorian
Finish: Lacquered faux wood finish (faux bois)
Conditions: Good overall condition, consistent with age and use. It presents a beautiful vintage patina, small signs of time on the surface and minor edge losses on the outer borders that testify to its authenticity and do not compromise its overall aesthetics (carefully review the attached photos). The frame is sold without glass and backing.
