Hand-made silver full-piece centerpiece plate in a flowered corolla shape, with intricate filigree work, originating from Italy and dating to circa 1850–1900, measuring 20 cm wide by 3 cm deep and 4 cm tall and weighing 153 g, currently in poor condition with evident wear and cracks.
Description from the seller
Splendid and refined centerpiece, a low stand, in the shape of a blossomed corolla, entirely handmade with the complex technique of silver filigree. The piece features an exceedingly rich pierced-work, with spiral motifs, botanical details and roses inside each lobe, arranged radially around a central geometric medallion. The item is without origin hallmarks, a very common characteristic for antique filigree from this area, as the fineness of the weave did not provide flat surfaces for stamping. However, the metal has been successfully tested with a chemical reagent on a touchstone, confirming its authenticity as solid silver.
Technical details:
Material: Solid silver (tested)
Hallmarks: None present
Overall weight: 153 grams
Maximum diameter: 20 cm
Height: 5.5 cm
Era/Origin: Late 19th / Early 20th Century (circa 1890-1940, Eurasian/Ottoman Manufacture)
Condition of the object (Flaws): Antique piece showing normal signs of wear and aging. As visible from close-up photographs, the piece shows some structural defects: an old restoration weld on the upper edge (between two petals) and some losses with interruptions in the weave of the fine silver threads inside one of the radial sections. The piece retains all its antique and collectible charm intact.
