Historismus period wall pendulum clock from Germany, circa 1900–1910, with a black ebonised wooden case, original enamel dial with Roman numerals, mechanical Junghans eight-day movement, gong strike on the hour and half hour, dimensions about 33 × 23 × 15 cm, weight 3 kg, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
Historical pendulum wall clock from the period of Historicism / Art Nouveau with an original mechanical Junghans spring-wound movement and hourly and half-hourly strike on a gong.
The black ebonized wooden case features a glazed front door with a brass bezel, decorative brass appliqués, and relief ornamental motifs in the style of late Historicism. The original enamel dial with Roman numerals and finely pierced steel hands is preserved.
Inside there is a complete Junghans 8-day movement with the characteristic eight-pointed Junghans star. Pendulum, gong and striking mechanism are present.
A notable feature is an old East Asian inscription on the back of the case. It does not seem to have been added later, but lies beneath an old layer of varnish or has been permanently applied. It is likely related to historical export or a dealer in the East Asian region. A definitive translation is not currently possible.
The clock is overall in good original condition. The movement appears complete, but for long-term operation it should be properly cleaned and serviced by a professional.
