Description from the seller
Antique Display Cabinet/English Writing Desk Vittorian in Rosewood, 1870–1880 Era
Important English display cabinet with writing desk in solid rosewood, dating to the Victorian period, between 1870 and 1880. A piece of great craftsmanship and extraordinary stage presence, characterized by elegant lines and harmonious proportions typical of nineteenth-century English furniture.
The upper section consists of a two-door display cabinet with original glass, enclosed between turned columns with capitals finely carved with a vegetal motif. Inside are wooden shelves, ideal for displaying books or collectible objects.
The central part features a writing desk with a scalloped tambour (rolling shutter) finely shaped, enhanced by the spectacular flame figure of the rosewood. The interior, visible in the photo, is organized with small drawers and open compartments, designed for correspondence and archiving.
The lower part is made up of a two-panel door cabinet, enriched by slim decorative moldings. It rests on substantial turned and fluted legs, finished with original casters, an element that facilitates movement and enhances its aesthetic.
The piece is in perfectly preserved condition, with original patina and deep, dynamic grain that highlight the quality of the wood. A statement piece, ideal for studies, libraries, or prestigious environments.
