Description from the seller
Superb Neoclassical-style table or fireplace garnish from the XXth century, consisting of a central clock and its two matching lateral elements. The overall architectural design draws inspiration from the grandeur of ancient temples and is entirely crafted in deep black marble, beautifully contrasted by inlays of onyx marble plaques in green and cream tones.
The central clock features an architectural façade flanked by four fluted columns in gilded metal and topped with a triangular onyx pediment. The gilded dial, signed by the famous brand "UCRA", bears stylized black Arabic numerals and elaborately worked hands. It includes a speed-setting indicator for the movement (S/F for Slow/Fast). The original spring-driven mechanism is visible from below and appears complete. It has not been tested and is sold without its winding key.
The two lateral columns/urns reproduce the form of miniature temples housing each a bronze or patinated metal statuette depicting a figure from Ancient Rome (one with a toga and parchment, the other in centurion armor with shield).
Dimensions and weights (measured with precision):
Central clock: 29.5 cm (Height) x 25.5 cm (Width) x 11 cm (Depth) | Weight: 7.3 kg
Lateral columns (each): 24 cm (Height) x 13.5 cm (Width) x 9.5 cm (Depth) | Weight: 2.23 kg and 2.20 kg
Total weight of the 3 elements: 11.73 kg
Condition report:
The ensemble is in good overall aesthetic condition with its original patina. Note a restoration: the upper onyx pediment of one of the two lateral columns has been re-glued, leaving a visible joining mark (please refer to the detailed photos to assess the condition). It can be repaired without visible traces. The internal mechanism is complete to the eye but has not been tested and the key is missing; the item is therefore sold as requiring servicing. The numerous photos provided are an integral part of the description of the object's condition.
