Description from the seller
Pair of Antique Silver-Plated Candlesticks by Maison Christofle (c. 1878-1879)
An authentic and historically significant pair of late 19th-century silver-plated candlesticks crafted by the world-renowned Parisian luxury manufacturer, Maison Christofle.
A rare and highly desirable feature for collectors, these two candlesticks possess nearly consecutive, original factory serial numbers, proving they have remained together as a true matching pair since their manufacture nearly 150 years ago.
Technical Specifications:
- **Manufacturer:** Maison Christofle (Paris, France)
- **Period:** Late 19th Century / Late Napoleon III - Victorian Era (Circa 1878 - 1879)
- **Material:** Silver-plated base metal (copper/brass alloy) via Christofle's historic electroplating method.
- **Serial Numbers:** 1173425 & 1173428 (stamped on the rim of the bases)
- **Height:** 24 cm
- **Base Diameter:** Approx. 11.2 cm
- **Silver Weight Marking:** Stamped with the number "6" (indicating the grams of pure silver used for plating).
### Hallmarks & Authenticity:
Both pieces are fully and clearly hallmarked on the stems and bases:
1. The classic "CHRISTOFLE" name stamp in a rectangular cartouche.
2. The official square Christofle scale/bee hallmark topped with a crown, used to guarantee the electroplating quality.
3. The individual production serial numbers (1173425 and 1173428) deeply stamped underneath the base rims.
Condition Report:
The candlesticks are in good structural antique condition with an authentic, heavy period patina.
Due to over a century of careful polishing, the original silver plating has naturally worn down in multiple areas, beautifully revealing the warm, golden brass/bronze base metal underneath.
This honest wear gives the pieces an exceptional, organic antique character.
No major dents or structural repairs.
The product will be professionally packed and sent safely to your address by local post.
The pictures of the product are made with the highest possible resolution, precisely to capture possible small defects (small scratches, stains, defect), the pictures are part of the product description.
