Description from the seller
Console, wrought iron and marble, Art Deco, 1930s – France
Style: Art Deco
Materials: Wrought iron and marble top
Period: 1930s
Country of origin: France
Good condition for its age and use
Overall dimensions: 90 x 104 x 40 cm.
Exceptional Art Deco console in wrought iron with a white marble top veined with gray and black, in a crescent shape. Geometry dominates the design: straight lines, stepped curved forms and strict symmetry reinforce the modern and rational aesthetics of Art Deco, evoking the dynamism of the machine age and progress.
The small spheres beneath the marble top serve as ornamentation and create a striking focal point, thanks in part to their finish, achieved through the refined technique of Arabic origin hammering, which consists of producing a hollowed effect on the metal surface by hammer blows to create a rustic and original look.
It presents a single floor support, a curved foot that bears the weight of the structure, aided by wall fittings. Thanks to its materials, it is the perfect console to place in an entry or reception area, living room, or even outdoors. It will become the centerpiece of any space due to its strong decorative presence, which enhances the modern design of the early decades of the 20th century.
The term Art Deco was defined in the sixties to refer to the art produced in the interwar period. It was a style that developed in all facets of design and reached its peak at the Paris International Exhibition of Decorative Arts (1925). Art Deco stands out for its use of straight lines and geometric volumes; it is a style that emerged from the combination of various trends. It differs from other artistic periods in that it is a purely decorative style, where artists focus on creating attractive and balanced pieces that reflect the society of the moment.
The product shipment will be paid by the buyer according to dimensions, weight, and destination. Shipping includes professional, tailor-made packaging; and personalized shipping, with tracking number and warranty.
The buyer will be responsible for paying import duties and taxes in the destination country, if any. Please note the seller's liability disclaimer regarding possible customs charges, as these are charged in the destination country and the amount due is determined by that country’s customs. If an export permit is required, the costs are borne by the buyer. The cost depends progressively on the value of the work to be exported.
