Description from the seller
French porcelain teacup with saucer – mid-19th century (ca. 1850)
Elegant teacup with its saucer in refined French porcelain, dating to the mid-19th century, crafted in the romantic style typical of the era.
The cup features a substantial inner rim fully gilded in mercury/gold, which lends great elegance to the overall piece. The polychrome decoration consists of rich hand-painted floral motifs, accompanied by delicate butterflies and small insects, enhanced by fine tendrils and gold detailing.
The saucer repeats the same decoration in harmony, creating a set with a striking aesthetic impact. The slightly flared shape of the cup and the richness of the decorations are characteristic of French production in the second half of the 19th century.
