Description from the seller

Solid walnut wood, finely carved, originally conceived as a terminal crest for a large monumental piece of furniture, typical of the 19th-century eclectic cabinetmaking.
The artifact develops in a symmetric and pyramidal layout of exquisitely neo-Renaissance flavor. At the center dominates a large smooth oval cartouche, enclosed within a moulded frame and enhanced above by a sumptuous foliate pediment with stylized palmette, flanked by acanthus-like scrolls. Inside the shield is incised a calligraphic interlaced monogram CB.
From the central oval extend two majestic opposing volute scrolls, richly carved in deep relief, which fade towards the outer margins into foliate elements and mannerist-like geometric details.
The object is in good overall condition. Subtle and natural signs of aging are noted, with small superficial losses consistent with the period and traces of old wood-borer holes.

- Material: Solid wood (walnut or period-stained wood)
- Era: Late 19th Century / Early 20th Century (Umbertine Period / Eclectic)
- Origin: Europe
- Dimensions (visible in image):
Width: 78 cm
Height: 26 cm
Style: Neo-Renaissance / Eclectic
