Description from the seller

Elegant hand-carved walnut chair – Empire/Biedermeier – circa 1820–1850 – France/Germany

Description
Very elegant antique armchair from the first half of the 19th century, crafted in solid walnut with rich hand-carved decorations.

The chair shows fine Empire and early Biedermeier influences, including a carved shell motif, scrolls, floral ornaments and a decorative lattice pattern in the backrest.

The warm, dark brown patina and the refined woodcarving give the chair a stately appearance. Thanks to the generous, later professionally upholstered red velvet seat, the chair offers not only decorative value but also comfortable seating.

The chair is in good, stable antique condition with normal signs of use appropriate for an age of about 180 years. Some small old repairs and wear to the finish are present and belong to the character of an authentic piece of furniture from this period.

A particularly decorative item that fits excellently in a classical interior, country house, hotel, boutique or collection of antique furniture.

Condition: Good antique condition. Normal signs of use, light wear and small old restorations appropriate for the age. See photos for a complete picture.

Shipping: The chair is carefully packaged and insured for shipment or can be picked up by appointment.

This chair combines elegance, craftsmanship and a historic appearance and constitutes a valuable addition for any enthusiast of authentic 19th-century furniture.
