Antique bamboo chair – China, late 19th / early 20th century

Rare natural bamboo chair crafted according to traditional Asian techniques. It features a structure of bamboo canes joined together, a backrest with geometric openwork and an original woven bamboo seat.

The overall piece offers a very beautiful antique patina acquired over time. Traces of wear, old finishes visible, and small irregularities attest to its authenticity and use.

This chair perfectly illustrates late 19th-century export-oriented Asian furniture, now highly valued for its restrained aesthetics and its wabi-sabi spirit.

Condition: good antique condition with a nice patina, wear appropriate to age. Original seat preserved.

Chaise ancienne en bambou – Chine, fin XIXᵉ / début XXᵉ siècle

Rare chaise en bambou naturel réalisée selon les techniques traditionnelles asiatiques. Elle présente une structure composée de cannes de bambou assemblées, un dossier ajouré à décor géométrique et une assise tressée d’origine en bambou.

L’ensemble offre une très belle patine ancienne acquise au fil du temps. Les traces d’usure, les anciennes finitions visibles et les petites irrégularités témoignent de son authenticité et de son utilisation.

Cette chaise illustre parfaitement le mobilier asiatique d’exportation de la fin du XIXᵉ siècle, très apprécié aujourd’hui pour son esthétique sobre et son esprit wabi-sabi.
