Andrea Branzi (Florence, 1938), architect and designer, lives and works in Milan. From the beginning of his career he has participated in the major movements that made Italian design famous. Between 1964 and 1974 he was part of Archizoom Associati, the first internationally renowned avant-garde group, whose projects are today preserved at the Centro Studi e Archivi della Comunicazione of the University of Parma and at the Centre Pompidou in Paris; in 1981 he was one of the founders of the Memphis group. Since 1967 he has been devoted to industrial and experimental design, architecture, urban design, teaching, and cultural promotion. He is associate professor at the III Faculty of Architecture and Industrial Design of the Politecnico di Milano.
The Twergi brand, introduced in 1989, was a collection of wooden objects designed by Alessi’s favorite designers (Branzi, Giovannoni, Graves, Venturi, ...) and Sottsass and their young Memphis collaborators. Each item was handmade by local artisans according to strict craft and material standards, resulting in expensive, small production cycles. In 1998 Twergi ceased to exist as a separate brand and other commercial products were added to Alessi’s catalog.
Ships with very careful packaging and a provided tracking code.
