Antique Napoléon III era glove box, in wood with burr veneer (radica) from France, dating to 1850–1900, with dimensions 8 cm high, 32 cm wide, 10 cm deep, in good used condition with small signs of age.
Description from the seller
Splendid glove box (boîte à gants) from the Napoleone III era, dating to the second half of the 19th century (France, around 1860-1880). The structure features a magnificent burl veneer (usually thuja or walnut) with the characteristic figured flame and knotty appearance, framed by black ebonized edges. The lid is adorned at the center with a medallion in the Boulle-style marquetry, decorated with elegant brass inlays, mother-of-pearl inserts, and light wood details. In the 19th century, these boxes with their elongated, geometric shape were indispensable elements in the boudoirs of high society, used to house long gloves in silk or leather and to prevent them from gathering dust or wrinkling.
