An antique Neorenaissance Italian study set from circa 1850–1900, comprising a solid walnut desk and its coordinating Fratina chair, hand‑carved with geometric lunette motifs and decorative drawer fronts, with turned baluster legs and an H‑shaped brace, leather‑upholstered seat and darkened metal studs, in good condition with a natural patina.
Description from the seller
Splendid studio set in Italian Neo-Renaissance style dating from the period spanning the late 19th and early 20th centuries, composed of a refined desk and its coordinated chair model "Fratina". The furniture is entirely made of solid wood, finely hand-carved with geometric lunette motifs along the edge of the top and decorated on the fronts of the drawers with elegant foliate scrolls and central medallions. The legs are finely turned to balusters and connected by a sturdy H-shaped stretcher, which guarantees stability and gives the typical solidity of period furnishings. The chair features a tall backrest enhanced with carved finials and a leather-upholstered seat, firmly fixed with original darkened metal studs. Thanks to its harmonious dimensions and not overly bulky, this set fits perfectly both classical studies and modern decor contexts as a piece with strong character as a contrasting element. The set is presented in generally good conservation condition, showing a beautiful natural patina and small, normal signs of aging on the surfaces that attest to its authenticity and history.
