Description from the seller
Set of vintage wooden hand planes – professional woodworking tools – mid-20th century
This set of three sturdy wooden hand planes comes from the tool case of a professional woodworker and dates to the mid-20th century. Each piece is made of solid, dense hardwood and features a cast-iron wedge-type handle with a characteristic black lacquered grip, typical of quality planes from this period.
The three planes are configured as a rabbet plane/rabbet plane, with an adjustable blade attached via a cast-iron wedge mechanism with a wing nut, allowing precise adjustment of cutting depth. The blades show natural patina and oxidation, but are still fully intact and re-sharpenable.
All three examples bear the honest marks of years of use in the workshop: dark wood discoloration, small dents and superficial scratches, but the construction has remained solid and functional. This type of tool is nowadays valued by restorers, furniture makers and collectors of authentic hand tools, both for use and for display.
