Elegant Art Deco mantel clock in a Napoleon hat shape, crafted from solid oak with brass and glass, mechanical movement with an 8-day power reserve, three-hammer bim-bam strike on three gongs, in working order and complete with the original winding disc and winding key, dimensions 32.5 × 53 × 12 cm, weight 4 kg, origin Netherlands, in good vintage condition with minor age-related wear.
Description from the seller
An elegant and authentic Art Deco mantel clock (pendule) with a characteristic Napoleon hat-shaped case. The clock is crafted from solid oak and features subtly hand-carved geometric patterns along the arch and a decorative shell-shaped crest on top of the bonnet.
The dial has a beautiful silvery sheen with prominent, graceful Art Deco-style Arabic numerals and open-work diamond-shaped hands. The dial is protected by a glass door in a brass lunettes that opens smoothly.
Mechanical condition:
The heavy mechanical movement on the back bears serial number 94589 and stamp 22. The clock is equipped with a atmospheric bim-bam strike that sounds with three hammers on three parallel tone bars (gongs).
Operation:
The clock is in fully working order; it runs accurately and the strike mechanism functions excellently.
Completeness:
Comes complete with the original associated pendulum disc and the winding key.
Condition:
Movement & striking mechanism:
Fully tested, runs and strikes well.
Case:
In vintage condition with a warm patina. There is a clear damage/chip at the bottom edge of the wood veneer on the right side (see marked detail photo). The wood otherwise shows light signs of aging appropriate to its age.
