Description from the seller

Up for auction is a classic 19th-century Russian Orthodox copper alloy quadriptych folding icon (known as "12 Feasts" or Skladen). This is an iconic example of Old Believer brass casting art, representing a portable domestic iconostasis.

Composition & Layout:
The quadriptych consists of 4 hinged leaves with ogee arches (kokoshniks). In total, it features 20 detailed relief panels depicting the major Orthodox Feasts and veneration of Miraculous Icons of the Mother of God:

1st Leaf: Annunciation, Nativity of Christ, Nativity of the Theotokos, Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple. Top: Crucifixion of Christ.

2nd Leaf: Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, Baptism of Christ, Entry into Jerusalem, Transfiguration. Top: New Testament Trinity.

3rd Leaf: Resurrection (Harrowing of Hell), Ascension, Old Testament Trinity, Dormition of the Theotokos. Top: Exaltation of the Cross.

4th Leaf: Scenes of veneration of four highly revered icons of the Mother of God (Tikhvin, Vladimir, Smolensk, and Sign). Top: Praise of the Mother of God.

Condition:

100% Complete & Original: All 4 original leaves and connecting hinges are present and fully functional. (Complete sets are significantly more sought-after as they are frequently found separated).

No cracks, structural damage, or repairs.

Authentic age patina and natural wear on high-relief points from historic handling.

Minor traces of cleaning residue in deeper crevices.

Dimensions:

Height: 176 mm

Width (folded): 111 mm

Thickness (folded): 21 mm

A superb collectible piece for any collector of religious art and Eastern Orthodox icons.
