Description from the seller

Medieval bronze spoon.
Very rare spoon from the high period, the tip of the handle in the shape of a deer hoof.
Dated to the 14th century or the early 15th century, it is made of a copper alloy (bronze).
To make it, the craftsman probably used a small metal ingot, drawing it out and hammering it to shape the flattened, rectangular base handle, then octagonal, until reaching 14 cm in length.
Its tip, almost circular in shape, is thicker and decorated at its end with a button in the form of a hoof.
The spoon bowl is also obtained by hammering until it takes a circular or nearly circular shape.
Excellent conservation state - A very rare piece for this period.
Dimensions: Length 13.9 cm - width 4.2 cm

Provenance: France, L.V.L gallery
