English-style brass lantern clock - Hermle (Germany) - 1971Description: Very beautiful table clock of the “lantern” type (17th-century English style) produced by the famous German manufacturer Hermle in 1971 (movement marked “71” and “Germany”). This vintage solid brass clock is topped with a large polished brass dome-shaped bell supported by ornamented pillars. The three large upper pediments are richly worked with an openwork decor of baroque scrolls. The entire structure rests very stably on four ball feet.The dial features a finely engraved center with foliate scrolls where the golden signature “Hermle” appears. The silvered hour ring bears black Roman numerals, paired with a minute railway in Arabic numerals.Technical specifications:Manufacturer: Franz Hermle & Söhne (Germany)Caliber / Movement: Hermle 140-070 mechanical (8-day) with key-wune winding on the front. Escapement: Very high-precision floating balance system (does not require perfect leveling to operate).Chiming: “Bim-Bam” type on an integrated brass bell (hours and half-hours via two rear hammers).Material: Solid brass.Weight: About 2.5 to 3.5 kg (a heavy, high-quality piece).Mechanical and conservation state:The brass case is in very good cosmetic condition with a uniform, authentic patina.
