Description from the seller
Rare Ernst Leitz Wetzlar "Parvo II" slide projector (early version in black shrink wrap lacquer) – complete set with Leitz-Hektor 100mm f/2.5 lens & original case – 1950s
Technical Details / Specifications:
Weight: approx. 5-6 kg (total weight including wooden case)
Size (case): approx. 35 cm x 18 cm x 25 cm
Material: metal housing (projector), wood/fabric (case), glass (optics), Bakelite (switch)
Color: Black (shrunk lacquer / wrinkle finish)
Shipping: securely packaged parcel with tracking and insurance (DHL / Hermes)
Description:
An extraordinary and highly collectible piece of photographic history from the golden era of Ernst Leitz Wetzlar (Leica). This is a beautiful Parvo II projector (serial number 78348), the rare and sought-after precursor to the later “Prado” series from the early 1950s.
Unlike the much more common models in industrial gray, this early first-generation version features the classic, distinctive black shrink lacquer finish (wrinkle finish) and the elegantly curved “Leitz” logo, which perfectly matches the aesthetic of the Leica cameras of that era.
Technical & Electrical Condition:
Optics & mechanics: in excellent vintage condition. The high-quality Leitz Hektor f=10cm 1:2.5 lens is optically clean, with no glass fungus or deep scratches. The internal condenser lenses and reflectors are completely intact.
Function: fully functional. The projector powers on and throws a bright, strong light, complete with the original blue vintage projection lamp.
Important note on cabling: The original brown Bakelite hand switch works perfectly. As expected with age, the original rubber power cord has become brittle and cracked at one point, exposing the inner conductors. For regular or long-term safe use, it is recommended to replace the cord, while the beautiful original switch can be kept.
Aesthetic Condition & Accessories:
The metal housing is remarkably well preserved and shows only minimal signs of aging. The unit comes as a complete collector’s set, consisting of:
The original slide changer.
The original luxury wooden case with the beautiful red original fabric lining.
The original keys for the case locks (an extremely rare detail!).
An absolute eye-catcher, perfectly suited for Leica enthusiasts as well as an exclusive decorative object in industrial design.
