European bronze sword
c. 1200 B.C.
A rare European bronze sword in fully original and intact condition, with a long leaf-shaped blade tapering to a pointed tip. The blade has a pronounced central rib and a broad, well-balanced profile, narrowing towards the separately cast handle. The hilt is riveted to the blade and has a shaped grip and a disc-shaped pommel.
The sword is in very good ancient condition, with age-related surface wear, areas of green patina, and minor surface deposits, yet retaining its complete structure and impressive weapon form.
An excellent and highly collectable Bronze Age sword, ideal for collectors of European antiquities, early arms, or archaeological bronze artefacts.
Length 57.5 cm.
Provenance: private European collection, 1970s.
