KPM Berlin white porcelain figurine of the Steigender Hengst with pedestal, designed by J. Eckstein in 1775 and produced in 1984, measuring 21.3 cm high with a 13.5 × 7.5 cm base and weighing 614 g, in superb condition with minimal wear and the underglaze blue sceptre mark.
Description from the seller
KPM Berlin – “Steigender Hengst” – Weißporzellan – Entwurf J. Eckstein 1775 – Herstellungsjahr 1984!
I offer here a classic and masterfully formed porcelain figure from the renowned Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin (KPM). It depicts the famous “Prancing Horse on a Pedestal” (also known as the “Rising Stallion”) in elegant, glazed white porcelain.
Historical design:
The timeless, baroque design of the powerfully rising horse goes back to the prominent sculptor Johannes Eckstein from the year 1775.
Dating & Marking:
On the underside lies the classic, underglaze blue Sceptre mark. The impressed letter “Y” designates the precise production year as 1984. Additionally, the production-related air vent hole is present.
Condition & Quality:
The statue is in an absolutely immaculate condition – there are no damages, chips, restorations, or visible firing flaws. Above the Sceptre mark there are two fine rubbing marks.
Because the piece appears visually flawless, this suggests an exclusive staff allotment or a top piece released for internal factory sale.
