Candlestick (2) - Gilt bronze - 19th century

Extraordinary and ancient pair of candlesticks in chiselled gilded bronze, richly decorated on both the base and the stem. One notes extensive discoloration, probably hand-applied, from the last century. They are extremely bright and feature a very beautiful gilding, while preserving a patina of time and signs of use. They present in excellent conservation, lacking their original babouches/feet which have probably been lost; they still make a strong visual impact thanks to the craftsmanship and the brilliance of the bronze.
