Description from the seller
Chandelier or spider lamp, STRASS crystal, 1970s - Spain
Excellent Hollywood Regency style chandelier manufactured in the 1970s. It is composed of a central metal brass structure that supports a system of chains and concentric rings where the crystal elements are fixed. The body is formed by faceted STRASS crystal prisms and beads, arranged in a vertical cascade and circular bands. The overall geometry combines a tapered upper section with a lower ring of greater diameter, creating a stepped volume. This type of structure is strongly inspired by French Empire-style chandeliers.
At the bottom, a set of crystal drops and a central pendant are integrated, both mounted on small metal rings. These elements function as light diffusers and as a visual closure for the piece. The great advantage of STRASS crystal is that it weighs less than ordinary crystal, an important detail for today’s houses.
During Hollywood's Golden Age of cinema, around the 1920s, a decorative style emerged called Hollywood Regency, which starred the interiors of American stars. Characterized by glamour, vibrant colors, and contrast between materials, it aims to create ostentatious and even theatrical interiors. Its use spread throughout the 20th century, crossing American borders and reaching Europe as well.
