Specimen: Cypraea tigris (Tiger Cowrie) from the Philippines, measuring 104 mm high, 74 mm wide and 56 mm deep, weight 193 g, mineral form: Cypraea Tigris - Selected Collector Shell.
Description from the seller
Beautiful specimen of Cypraea tigris, with a full, harmonious, well-developed shape, characterized by an extremely elegant and contrasted coloration.
The dorsum presents a light base, cream white, crossed by intense mottling in dark brown, reddish-brown and black tones. The spots are well defined, naturally distributed on the glossy surface of the shell, creating a lively and highly decorative pattern.
The form is solid and regular, with a domed dorsum, well-proportioned extremities and balanced lateral profile. The base is white, glossy, with an elongated aperture and clearly visible dentition. The margins show a beautiful color continuity between the light part and the dorsal mottling.
Cypraea tigris, also known as Tiger Cowrie, is one of the cowries most appreciated by collectors for the great variety of shapes, patterns and natural colorations. This specimen is particularly interesting for the strong contrast between the light background and the dark spots, which enhance its visual presence.
