A stylish vintage sewing basket from the 1970s, made with an attractively braided plastic wicker that resembles rattan and equipped with a fixed carrying handle. This type of craft box was a beloved household accessory in the 1960s and 70s: practical for storing sewing supplies while being decorative enough to have a fixed spot in the living room or hobby room. The combination of the braided exterior, the colorful fabric lining, and the removable plastic organizer is typical of this period.
The inside is lined with a striking red fabric featuring a blue floral motif. The lid contains an integrated pin cushion, while the transparent plastic insert with multiple compartments provides an orderly arrangement of thread, buttons, and small sewing materials. Beneath the insert there is extra storage for larger notions. The sewing basket is supplied with a varied assortment of threads and notions, as pictured.
A charming and functional vintage object that fits perfectly within a retro, mid-century, or cottagecore interior and is still excellent to use.
The sewing basket is in neat vintage condition with normal signs of wear consistent with its age. The transparent plastic insert shows a clear crack/damage at the handles (see detail photo). However, this does not detract from the overall appearance and usability of the sewing basket.
