Rare PIRELLI Tin Advertising Plaque from the 1930s - Metalgraf Milano - Signed by Codognato
Exceptional and authentic vintage promotional tin lithographed sign produced by the historic Metalgraf D.M. Milano plant, dating from the 1930s (matrix no. 43204).
The sign reproduces the iconic advertising graphic of the "Bimbo in Bici" originally created in 1915 by the renowned poster artist and illustrator Plinio Codognato (1878-1940) for Pirelli tires. The subject is characterized by the dynamic contrast between the glossy black background and the tricolor details of the child’s clothing. In the upper left corner the authentic artist’s signature printed via lithography is clearly visible.
On the lower left edge the precious historic marks are perfectly legible:
* "METALGRAF D.M. MILANO 43204" (prestigious Milanese manufacture of the early 1900s)
* "Abbonamento al Bollo - Milano"
* "7016/1930" with the official authorization of the Milan Police Headquarters dated 10/6/1930 and references to the Public Security laws of the Kingdom of Italy.
A museum piece of Italian industrial design, a must for collectors of automobilia, historic cycling, and vintage signs.
