Description from the seller

Rare Advertising Tin Plaque PIRELLI 1930s - Metalgraf Milano - Signed by Codognato
Exceptional and authentic promotional sign from the era in lithographed tin produced by the historic Metalgraf D.M. Milano plant, dating from the 1930s (matrix no. 43204).
The sign reproduces the iconic advertising graphic of the "Bimbo in Bici" originally conceived in 1915 by the famous poster artist and illustrator Plinio Codognato (1878-1940) for Pirelli tires. The subject is characterized by the dynamic contrast between the glossy black background and the tricolor details of the child's clothing. At the top left the authentic signature of the artist lithographed is clearly visible.

On the lower left edge the precious historical marks are perfectly legible:
* "METALGRAF D.M. MILANO 43204" (prestigious Milanese manufactory of the early 20th century)
* "Abbonamento al Bollo - Milano"
* "7016/1930" with the official authorization from the Questura di Milano dated 10/6/1930 and references to the Public Security laws of the Kingdom of Italy.
A museum piece of Italian industrial design, unmissable for collectors of automobilia, historical cycling, and vintage signage.
* Manifattura: Metalgraf D.M. Milano (original mark on the edge)
* Anno di produzione: Circa 1930
* Disegno: Plinio Codognato (signed at the top left)
* Materiale: Latta cromolitografata d'epoca
* Dimensioni: 33 cm (Altezza) x 26 cm (Larghezza)
* Condizioni: Ottimo stato di conservazione per un oggetto in latta di quasi un secolo di vita. Colori profondi, grafica integra e scritte nitide. Presenti lievi e affascinanti segni del tempo sui bordi che ne certificano l'assoluta originalità.
