His Masters Voice - 1920's Needle Collection Box Cartridge and/or needles - Multiple models

Old and rare set of needles for gramophones, from the brand "His Master Voice", from the 1920s. This Set is in excellent condition and comes in a beautiful wooden box, with 6 small boxes of "His Master Voice" needles, 1 small Trek needle set, 2 small drawers with loose needles and a record brush from the brand "His Master Voice".

The history of the His Master's Voice (HMV) brand and its iconic logo began at the end of the 19th century, evolving into one of the largest empires in the global music industry. The English painter Francis Barraud painted his dog, a Jack Russell Terrier named Nipper, listening to a cylinder phonograph. The phonograph belonged to Barraud's deceased brother. The painter noticed the dog looked confused, thinking it was hearing the voice of its deceased owner through the machine. Barraud attempted to sell the painting to the Edison-Bell phonograph company, but it was rejected. In 1899, The Gramophone Company bought the painting, with one condition: the painter would replace the cylinder phonograph with a modern disc gramophone.

The needles for His Master’s Voice (HMV) gramophones are disposable steel needles specially made for 78 RPM records. They must be replaced after playing a single side of a record to avoid irreparable damage to the recorded music.

This set is a great addition to any mechanical music collection or to decorate a space.
