An impressive Yamaha DSP-3000 Digital Sound Field Processor, one of the most advanced digital audio innovations from the late 80s. This high-end unit was introduced in 1987 and represents Yamaha’s breakthrough in realistic acoustic signal processing and the foundation of what would later become Cinema DSP.
Technical innovation & operation
The DSP-3000 is designed to analyze real acoustic spaces and digitally emulate them. Yamaha used advanced measurement methods (including multi-point recordings of concert halls) to capture reflections, delays, and spatial information.
