AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

GENERAL INFORMATION:

For sale this Fiat 130, a splendid flagship offering a perfect blend of period luxury, excellent road grip, and a powerful, responsive driving experience. The car has been meticulously cared for, comes with rich documentation, and is ready to be added to any collection or used for pure driving pleasure.

BODYWORK & PAINT:

The car was completely repainted in 2021 in its original Fiat 680 color. All parts that showed rust were carefully repaired by welding, and the entire restoration process is extensively documented by the attached photographs. The paintwork is today in excellent condition, with a complete absence of rust and only minor age-related flaws, clearly visible in the images. The vehicle still features its original charming black plates.

MECHANICS & TECHNICAL ASPECTS:

From a mechanical standpoint the car runs very well, starts easily and maintains a steady idle. The engine is powerful, responsive, and offers strong progression. Handling, brakes, road holding, and ride comfort are excellent. The automatic transmission functions correctly and shifts normally without jerks, with only minor oil leaks consistent with the age and type of component.

An extremely important and thorough overhaul and mechanical replacement work has been carried out on the car, eliminating the need for immediate intervention. The timing belt, water pump with related gaskets for the thermostat housing and several hoses were replaced.

The carburetor has been completely rebuilt and valve clearance set. The electrical and ignition systems have seen the starter motor and distributor revised, along with replacement of spark plug cables, plugs themselves, and the voltage regulator. For the transmission, the flexible drive belt and the automatic transmission mount were replaced, and the driveshaft balanced with replacement of the U-joints, bearing, and rear mount.

The braking system has been upgraded with a full overhaul of the front and rear calipers, new hoses and pads, while the front shocks have been replaced. Finally, the fuel tank has been cleaned, the float replaced, and a dual electric fuel pump installed. All fluids (differential oil, gearbox oil, brake fluid, and coolant) have been changed. All invoices for parts and maintenance history are available.

INTERIORS:

The interior is completely original and remains in very good condition. Only minor defects on the front seats are noted, visible in the attached photos. Inside stands out an period-correct modification to the central glovebox, where a control panel for accessories was added, made exclusively with components compatible with the car’s era. In any case, the original central glovebox is provided with the car for possible factory restoration.

DOCUMENTATION:

The car comes with an extraordinarily rich and rare set of paper documents, ideal for collectors. Included are the original handbook, the original hardcopy user and maintenance manual, the Historic Relevance Certificate (CRS), and a summary certificate of all previous owners.

The documentation also includes the original era brochure, the complete binder with the presentation brochure, the very rare pamphlet titled “Fiat 130 i 44 punti della sua sicurezza,” and the original document wallet. The tow hitch is duly registered on the vehicle’s registration.

PICK-UP:

This vehicle is not eligible for seller shipping. Pickup must be done in person by the buyer, or arranged and planned in advance with the seller prior to transport.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This Fiat 130 stands out for a rich set of period optional accessories that increase its value and comfort. The car is equipped with a Frigette air conditioner, four power windows, chromed Unielektra mirrors, front Carello fog lights, and a rear fog light.

The audio system includes an Autovox Melody radio from the Azzurra line with a cassette player, complete with its original dedicated bezel for the Fiat 130 and an electric antenna. Completing the equipment are the dual fuel pump and a convenient internal switch for manual cooling fan activation. A unique opportunity to acquire a quintessential Italian flagship ready to travel.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
