Dioptase is also known as Venus’s Stone.

The name derives from the Greek dioptezein, “to see through,” because in transparent crystals one can see inside the traces of cleavage planes. Thanks to its color, in ancient times it was known as the “coppery emerald” and was considered the stone of wealth and abundance. Dioptase is an extremely fragile stone and its color ranges from emerald green to translucent turquoise blue.
