Description from the seller
Large-format Hungarian banknote with a face value of 100,000 Korona, issued as a State Note of the Ministry of Finance. The note is dated Budapest, 1 May 1923, during the late Hungarian korona period, and is catalogued as Pick 72a. This high-denomination issue has a strong interwar character and represents an important inflation-era type from early 20th-century Hungarian paper money.
The obverse features an ornate blue and ochre design with the Hungarian coat of arms at the top, a female portrait within an oval frame on the right side and large “100000” denomination panels in the corners. The central field contains the denomination “Százezer Korona”, the issue text in Hungarian, the printed date and the signature of the Minister of Finance. The printer imprint “Orell Füssli, Zürich” is visible at the lower margin.
The reverse carries the denomination in several languages, including Hungarian, Romanian, German, Czech and Cyrillic-script forms, framed by elaborate blue ornamental borders and repeated “100000” value panels. The visible serial details are F153 and 028961, printed in red on the obverse. The note retains clear major design elements, good period detail and a substantial visual presence for this large 1923 Hungarian issue.
The banknote shows a central vertical fold, additional circulation folds, age toning, edge wear, small marginal nicks, softened corners, stains and handling marks. There is visible wear along the central fold and at the lower margin, but the note remains complete, readable and visually appealing, with a strong overall presentation for a circulated 100,000 Korona example.
