Description from the seller
# Ricoh RDC-300 — Boxed, New Old Stock (NOS)
A genuine time capsule from the dawn of digital photography. The Ricoh RDC-300 was introduced in 1997 and unveiled at Comdex Fall '97 — one of the pioneering consumer digital cameras of its era, sold internationally and also badged by Philips as the ESP-2 (marketed in Japan as the Ricoh DC-3). This example is offered **boxed and as New Old Stock** — an increasingly rare find, as most surviving units are well-worn user cameras rather than clean, complete, unused examples.
## Why collectors want it
The RDC-300 has become a favourite among the growing community of lo-fi and early-digital enthusiasts. Its 1/4" 350,000-pixel CCD captures 640×480 (VGA) images with a distinctive low-resolution, high-character look that modern sensors and smartphones simply cannot replicate — grainy, honest, and full of the "digital soul" that defines late-90s digicam aesthetics. This is a camera bought as much for the images it makes as for its place in photographic history.
