Grand plat circulaire
Dynastie Qing, période Qianlong (1736-1795)
18ème siècle
Chine
Porcelaine à décor d’émaux polychromes de la Famille Rose sur couverte
Diamètre : 38,5 cm x Hauteur : 4 cm

This large circular plate from the Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period (1736-1795), 18th century, China, is a porcelain piece bearing polychrome enamel decoration in the Famille Rose palette on glazed surface.
Diameter: 38.5 cm; Height: 4 cm

This large porcelain plate features a refined central display that remains true to the highly prized Chinese floral and animal motifs known from export wares to Europe in the 18th century.

Central design: The basin is adorned with an asymmetrical composition depicting a bird with azure blue and pink plumage, perched on a gnarled, winding branch. At the base of the tree bloom rich peonies, symbols of wealth, honor and distinction in China. They are rendered in purplish-pink tones (famille rose) and an iron-orange shade enhanced with fine gilded tendrils. A white daisy and a small butterfly in mid-flight complete this bucolic garden scene.

The rim and the shoulder: The plate’s shoulder bears a decoration of four sprays of flowers and stylized foliage that follow the curvature of the piece. The upper edge of the rim (the lip) is outlined by a red iron-and-gold geometric frieze, characteristic of productions intended for the Western market.

Condition
Some wear from use and light edge chipping along the rim testify to the piece’s age, without affecting the freshness of the enamel palette. 1 crack.

Provenance: Kanaka The Collection, Portugal

Shipped with UPS and insured.
