Description from the seller
Elegant and rare original Christofle tea service, dating from the early 1920s, a manifestation of the excellence of French silversmithing and the Art Deco taste.
The lot comprises a teapot, a coffee pot, a sugar bowl, and a milk jug, accompanied by an impressive Gallia serving tray, by Christofle, which harmoniously completes the ensemble.
This model was exhibited in 1925 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where it was presented among the pieces of greatest interest in the exhibition dedicated to French decorative arts of the 20th century.
The tableware stands out for its notable brilliance and for an exceptional state of preservation, a quality increasingly hard to find in objects over a hundred years old.
The Gallia tray, on the other hand, bears time-related signs consistent with its age: scattered black speckling over the surface, some signs of wear and oxidation, as well as normal signs of use visible on the back. All conditions are clearly documented in the photographs.
This is a collection of great historical and collecting charm: the slight imperfections of the tray do not compromise the overall elegance nor the value of the service, but rather attest to its authenticity and long history.
A rare opportunity for collectors and Christofle enthusiasts, with a service of great visual impact and accompanied by its original Gallia tray.
The lot will be shipped preferably by UPS.
